The dry cargo department of Langar shipping (UK) specialises in arranging the seaborne transportation of major bulk commodities, such as iron ore and coal, which are shipped in bulk carriers of up to 360,000 tonnes deadweight. We also deal with steel and steel products, scrap, minerals, fertilizer and forest products in sizes of 1,000 tonnes minimum.

The Cape and Panamax Team

This team maintains a close relationship to the majority of German steel mills and assists them in covering their tonnage requirements for the ocean transportation of iron ore and coal in the most economical way. A number of other European steel mills are making similar use of the company's knowledge and worldwide connections, and have appointed the company to their panel of chartering brokers. Another very important group of customers for this team are the producers, exporters, importers and traders of - predominantly - steam coal, who are conducting their business in Europe and in the middle-east. In addition, Langar shipping (UK) provides a service to owners and operators of Cape size and Panamax bulk carriers, providing them with suitable cargos (or vessels) suitable for their requirements.

The Handy Size Team

This team provides a service to owners and charterers of geared and gearless bulk carriers weighing up to approximately 40,000 tonnes worldwide, primarily in connection with the ocean transportation of steel and steel products for specific charterers. Period and trip time charters are arranged as well as ocean transportation of general cargo, grain and minor bulk cargoes like minerals, cement, timber, etc. In addition, a number of close owners and operators use the services provided by this team for the employment of their Handy and Handymax tonnage (between 20/50,000 tonnes).

The Coaster Team

The Coaster team deals, in general terms, with the same commodities mentioned above when transported in smaller ship sizes. For trades going from/to or between smaller ports within the Baltic, North Sea, Mediterranean and Black Sea, or for distribution from larger vessels which are calling only at the major transportation hub ports. Hence we offer almost door-to-door solutions for our customers. The team also quotes for worldwide parcel businesses, project cargoes and combined sea and inland waterway transportation. The department provides our customers with first-class services by addressing their maritime transportation requirements with tailor-made solutions.
